ROTARY CLUB - MID TOWN ORGANISED A PROJECT " EARLY DETECTION OF CANCER THROUGH TESTS.".

 Rotary International,is one of the largest  service organisations in the world.The mission of Rotary is to provide service to others.While offering service to the deserving, they conduct a Four Way test Viz': 

1.Is it the truth?

2.Is it fair to all concerned?.

3.Will it build Good will & better Friendships?

4.Will it be beneficial to all concerned?.

Rotary Clubs through its various Chapters undertake various projects for the benefit of the community. One such project undertaken by the Rotary Mid Town,Bengaluru is "Early Detection of Cancer" as Cancer is one of the diseases which is affecting large sections of society. ABOUT CANCER : Cancer Cells have gene mutations that turn the normal  cell into a cancer cell.These gene mutations may be inherited,develop over time.Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the US.But fewer people are dying of cancer  now than 20 years ago due to early detection & timely treatment.

To create awareness  for early detection of cancer, the Rotary Club of Mid Town,Bengaluru under the leadership of Mr.Abdul Sait _ President & Mr. Uday Kumar K.Bhaskara- District Governor  with their prominent members of the club undertook  trips to Channapatna,Ramnagaram,Mandya,Mysore & Hassan  in Karnataka to conduct meetings of their Chapters.The meetings received good response and their members were too keen to take the message to the comuunity they live in.

Details of the Project :  Normally cancer detection tests cost around Rs.20,000/- in the major hospitals. Mr.Uday Shankar,District Governor said,they had discussions with KARKINOS based
in Cochin to conduct specialised test  & brought down the cost to Rs.3000/-,of which 50% will be borne by the Rotary Club- Mid Town & the balance of 50 % will be borne by different chapters mentioned above to the deserving people.


Cancer Detection Tests to be conducted for Women are: Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer,Colo Rectal Cancer & Oral cancer. For Men : Oral Cancer,Prostate Cancer & Colo  Rectal Cancer. The tests to be conducted are -HPV DNA TEST which has success rate f 96% in early detection.

India's apex trade body,The Gem & Jewellery Export Council inaugurated the 2nd edition of the India International  Jewellery Show -IIJS Tritiya in Bengaluru at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre from 5th April to 8th April,2024.

IIJS Tritiya was hailed as the Gateway for the Global Gem & Jewellery Exports.
 The inauguration was attended by Dr.Selvakumar,IAS,Principal Secretary,Industries & Commerce,GOK,Dr. B.Govindan,Chairman,Bhima Jewellery,Mr.Vinod Hayagriv,M.D.& Director,C.Krishniah Chetty Group,Mr.Vipul Shah, Chairman,GJEPC, Dr.Chetan Kumar Mehta,President,Jewellers Association,Bengaluru,Mr.Kirit Bhansali,Vice Chairman,GJEPC,& Mr.Sabyasachi Ray,ED,GJEPC.
This year's IIJS Tritiya is bigger,smarter & better than last year featuring over 900  exhibitors &1900 stalls across 40,000 Sq.Mtrs.It has over 15,000 pre registered visitors from over 500 cities in India and 60 countries.  

Mr.Vipul Shah,Chairman,GJEPC said," we are a USD 40 billion export industry today,but the scope & potential for further growth is immense with the ever increasing demand in the global gem & jewellery market.Dr.B.Govindan,Chairman,Bhima Jewellery,said,"investing in the jewellery industry not only creates jobs but also contributes significantly to the economy. Mr.Vinod Hayagriv,M.D. & Director,C.Krishniah Chetty group said," I think USD 70 billion is a very doable target and GJEPC being there at the helm,we could easily achieve that much earlier than 2030".
