Article 44 of the Constitution,part of the Directive principle of the state policy,provides that the state shall endeavour to secure the citizens an Uniform civil code throughout the territory of India.One Country,One Law, UCC envisages that having a common Law for all citizens of the country that is not based on religion.Personal Laws related to inheritance,adoption & succession are likely to be covered by a common code.
UCC will ensure equality before law for all citizens in the country promised in article 14 of the constitution Viz :The state shall not deny to any person equality before the law or the equal protection of the laws within the territory of India.Implementing of UCC can help foster a sense of unity & belonging among citizens by establishing a common set of laws that transcends religious boundaries.UCC will promote harmonious coexistence of diverse communities.By harmonizing personal laws,UCC can bridge gaps & reduce divisions based on religion,fostering a cohesive & an inclusive society. The framers of the constitution strongly supported UCC ,as we can observe from article 44.
