SACHIN JOINING POLITICS?.
Sachin has given his consent for Rajya Sabha nomination offered by the government. The moot question is whether the timing is correct for him to join politics when he is still playing. Many people may say that he is not joining politics and will only be a member of Rajya sabha on nomination by the government. But the fact is that Sachin met Ms.Sonia Gandhi President of the Congress Party which only strengthens the view that he is joining politics.Otherwise he would have met the prime Minister as he was nominated by the government and the PM is head of the government.

BHARAT ELECTRONICS LIMITED- FINANCIAL RESULTS(PROVISIONAL) FOR 2011-12.
HIGHLIGHTS.
BEL paid an interim dividend of 100% for the year 2011-12 to its share holders.The largest shareholder is government of India which holds 75.86% and the general public holds only 1.87%..
Turnover from indigenously developed products is 81%.
Supplies to the defence contributed 73% of turnover as against 80% in 2010-11.
User trials of weapon Locating Radar(WLR) were successfully completed .
6 lakhs of Tablet PC were developed and supplied in record time to the ministry of rural Development.
The Turnover for the year 2011-12 is Rs.5710 crores as against Rs.5530 crores last year.
Profit Before tax showed a decline from Rs.1161 crores last year to Rs.975 crores during this year.
Exports also showed a decline from Rs.49.5 crores to Rs.38.45 crores.
Order Book value shows an increase from Rs.23,600 crores last year to Rs.25,748 crores.

STATE BANK OF MYSORE- ANNUAL RESULTS 2011-12.
State Bank of Mysore announced their financial results for the year ending 2011-12.
The toatl business of the bank reached Rs.90,839 crores,of which deposits showed an increase of 16.10% amounting to Rs.50,186 crores and advances grew by 18.03% amounting to Rs.40,653 crores.
The operating profit for the year is Rs.1059.61 crores registering a decline of 9.72%.Addressing the media the Managing Director Ms.Hamshini Menon said that the dip in operating profit is due to the marginal decline in net interest income and higher overheads and staff expenses as the bank recruited many staff both clerical and probationery officers during last year.
The net profit also showed a decline of 26.26% to Rs.369.15 crores.The reason is due to higher standard assets provision,provision for bad debts,restructured advances and depreciation on investments accounted for the higher provisions. During the year NPA's registered an increase from Rs.863.74 crores to Rs.1502.62 crores in 2011-12.This increase in NPA is largely due to agricultural segment as many pars of the state is reeling under drought.The gross NPA is 3.705 and net NPA is 1.93%.The banks has declared an interim dividend of 100% for the year 2011-12.
The bank has set a target to reach 1000 branches and total business of Rs.100,000 crores during the year 2012-13.The bank has set up a asset tracking department to tackle growing NPA,s.

IS INDIA'S ECONOMIC SLOWDOWN A REALITY?
There is slowdown in economic activity .Will India be replaced by Indonesia in BRICS countries?.These are the common points discussed in hush hush tones in economic circles. But one thing is certain that there is paralysis in major economic reforms implementation.Going by the statement of Mr.Kaushik Basu,Chief Economic Adviser to the government of India that major economic reforms has to wait till 2014 and there is slowdown in decision making makes everyone worry. The government cannot brush aside the reality that FDI has fallen below 50% , inflation is still high agricultural production has dropped and prices have not fallen to reasonable levels.There is one more oil price hike in the offing which will have spiralling effect on the prices.The government cannot take shelter under the coalition compulsions and they are not getting the support they expect from the coalition partners.
