LANDMARK DEVELOPMENT FOR CANCER CARE - CAR T-CEL THERAPY AT NARAYANA HEALTH CITY.

 In a landmark development for cancer care in India,three patients treated with CAR T -cell therapy for relapsed follicular lymphoma at Narayana Health City,Bengaluru. have completed three years of successful follow up-making this one of the longest documented survivals post CAR T Therapy in South India. Chimeric Antigen Receptor  T-cell (CAR T) therapy, a cutting edge immunotherapy, has become a beacon of hope for patients with relapsed  or treatment-resistant lymphoma.India now produces CAR T therapy domestically,with two CDSCO approved products - NEXCAR19  and  QARTEMI-making this life saving treatment more accessible  and affordable.

A 66 year old home maker,relapsed with aggressive lymphoma in 2022 and underwent CAR T therapy in March 2023. She has since been in complete remission and is now enjoying quality time with her grand children.Among the long term survivors is a 43 year old  from Bengaluru who was diagnosed during the COVID-19 pandemic. After exhausting all conventional therapies,he received CAR T Therapy in November,2022. despite multiple setbacks,including a severe COVID-19 infection and swine flu ,he is now in remission and in his third year of follow up.

India witnesses over 1.4 million new cancer  cases annually,with lymphomas accounting for a significant burden among haematological malignancies.While conventional treatments help many patients,relapsed or treatment -resistant cases often have poor survival outcomes.The five year survival rate for such patients can be as low as 20 -30%.The successful outcomes seen with CAR T-cell therapy,particularly with India's CDSCO -approved versions like NEXCAR19 and QARTEMI which mark a pivotal oppurtunity to bridge the survival gap in advanced cancer care.If scaled effectively,this therapy could transform India's cancer treatment landscape,reducing dependence on overseas options & significantly improving long term survival rates.

CPRI CELEBRATES 65th INSTITUTE DAY ON 16th JANUARY,2025.

Central Power Research Institute (CPRI),an autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Power,Govt.of India,with its Head Quarters in Bengaluru was initially established in Bengaluru & Bhopal in the year 1960 & has now spread across various locations Viz.Bhopal, Hyderabad,Nagpur, Noida,Kolkata and Guwahati.  Tow more units of CPRI are coming up near Nashik and Raipur.CPRI  celebrated its 65th institute day on 16th January,2025 & is presently headed by Shri.B.A.Sawale,Director General.

The activities of CPRI are Applied Research  in Electrical Power Engineering, Testing & Certification of Power equipments,Consultancy & Field Testing services to power utilities & Industry,Third Party Inspection & Vendor Analysis  And Customized training programs for utilities & Industries.The Institute has carved a niche for itself & branded as an Institutional accredited testing organisation on par with other reputed international test houses for power and electrical industries.It is one of the top 12 laboratories in the world approved for short circuit testing & certification for power equipment.Manufacturers from all over the world find CPRI as a preferable destination for their electrical testing need confirming to national & international standards.CPRI is the forerunner as well as Nodal agency of Ministry of Power,Govt.of India for undertaking research schemes in generation,transmission & distribution sectors of power in India.

CPRI has also signed MOU's with IISC,IIT's & other academic organizations in India for  collaborative research & development and demonstration of technologies.The 65 th Institute day was attended by Shri. Srikant Nagulapalli,IAS,Addl.Secretary,Ministry of Power,Govt.of India as the Chief Guest for the function. Prof.Govindan Rangarajan, Director, Indian Institute of Science,Bengaluru graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Dr.D.Seshagiri,Outstanding scientist & Director of Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL),DRDO,Kochi,  delivered the 35th Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial lecture titled " Airborne Radars - Indian scenario".Shri.B.A.Sawale,Director General,CPRI,presided over the function.Shri.Swaraj Kumar Das, and Shri.Sudhakar Reddy,Directors were also present on the occasion.

NARAYANA NETHRALAYA - LAUNCH OF Dr.BHUJANG SHETTY'S " DIABETES NO MORE"- A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO DIABETES REVERSAL.

 Diabetes, a condition increasingly prevalent in India,has reached alarming levels,making the country the Diabetes Capital of the world with over 100 million affected individuals.This chronic disease characterised by elevated  blood sugar,impacts various organs,including the eyes,kidneys,is the root cause of many conditions such as Obesity,polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS),hypertesnion and even stroke. The book launch featuring both English & Kannada editions, was done in the hands of esteemed Former Chief Justice of India,Dr. Justice D.Y.Chandrachud .  Dr.Rohit Shetty,Chairman of Narayana Nethralaya, Dr.Naren Shetty,Vice Chairman,Narayana Nethralaya and Gp.Capt.S.K.Mittal VSM,CEO of Narayana Nethralaya were also present.

Furthering this mission,Narayana Nethralaya established the Reversing Diabetes Clinic,which has successfully treated thousands of patients over past three years,weaning many off insulin,reducing medication,and even reversing diabetes completely in numerous cases.
