AMAZON TO REACH 200,000 WOMEN & GIRLS THROUGH MENSTRUAL HYGIENE PROGRAMME BY 2025.

AMAZON INDIA unveiled the next phase of its  women's health initiative  during a media event at the Singahalli community Center in Bengaluru. The program which addresses period poverty through locally manufactured sanitary products,education and entrepreneurship oppurtunities will reach 2,00,000 women & girls by 2025. Currently operating FOUR sanitary napkin manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru,Chennai,Hyderabad & Kolkata,Amazon has already reached more than 50,000 women & girls from underserved communities across 130 villages & 14 cities. Through this initiative, Amazon will also support more than 500 women entrepreneurs by 2027. The sanitary napkin production units have a combined production capacity of 1200 bio degradable sanitary napkins per hour using fully automated state-of-the-art machinery.All napkins are made from CPCB approved 100% bio degradable raw materials,offering a sustainable alternative in areas where plastic waste & lack of access to hygienic products remain major challenges.Women entrepreneurs operate the units with support from non profit partners Vyomini and She and We,with active engagement from ASHA workers,anganwadi centres and local Gram Panchayats.


Dr.Karuna Shanker Pande,Vice President,Amazon Logistics,India said," Menstruation is a natural biological process,remains shrouded in secrecy  and shame in many parts of India,and our unique programs are tackling this head-on . At Amazon, we are reimagining  what it means to empower women by placing them at the heart of innovation enterprise and community transformation.". 


To date,60 women have gained direct employment and another 200 are indirectly engaged as sales champions,these womena are expected to earn a gross profit of Rs.17,000 per month while taking care of their household responsibilities & taking flexible working hours.

8th EDITION OF TECHgium HOSTED BY L&T TECHNOLOGY SERVICES LTD -SHOWCASES ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE & BOLD INNOVATIONS.

TECHgium,India's largest innovation platform for engineering students,hosted by L&T Technology Services Ltd.,marked the remarkable conclusion of its eighth edition on Friday. With record breaking participation,the 8th edition  showcases innovative solutions in Mobility,Sustainability  and Tech while strengthening Industry-Academia collaboration. The winners of this year's competition were  awarded prizes totalling more than Rs.19 lakhs. Celebrating groundbreaking engineering talent,this year's event broke records with over 39,000 registrations from over 560 engineering Institutes pan India,a nearly six-fold growth since its inception in 2016.

This year's TECHgium was graced by the presence of Prof.T.G.Sitharam,Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE),as Chief Guest and Mr. Vikas Purohit,CEO of New Business Ventures  at Bennett Coleman & Co.Ltd., as Guest of Honor.The event showcased an exhilarating blend of technical ingenuity and real world problem solving.Both guests emphasized the critical need to cultivate innovation for shaping the future of engineering and sustaining global competitiveness. Since its launch TECHgium focused on nurturing future ready engineering talent  through immersive exposure to cutting edge challenges and industry collaboration.


The winners are : 
 1. Students from Sri Ramakrishna Engineering college, Coimbatore for their revolutionary project on a Mini Propelled Underwater Autonomous Robot.

2. Runner -Up : Students from Fr.C.Rodrigues Institute of Technology,Navi Mumbai  for their project -WindGrid AI -Intelligent site selection for Efficient Wind Power Generation.

3.Second Runner Up - Students from B.V.Raju Institute of Technology,Telengana for their project on Enhanced Battery Management using Digital Twin Technology.

4.Special Jury Prize: Team from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology,Erode for their project on AI-Powered Video Moderation.
