LORD MACAULAY'S ADDRESS TO THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT
ON 2nd FEBRUARY,1835.

"I have travelled across length and breadth of India and I have not seen one 
person who is a beggar,who is a thief,such wealth I have seen in this country,
such high moral values,people of  such caliber,that I donot think we would ever
conquer this country,unless we break the very backbone of this nation,which is 
her spiritual and cultural heritage and therefore,I propose that we replace her
old and ancient education system,her culture,for if the Indians think all that is
foreign and English is good and greater than their own,they will lose their self
esteem,their native culture and they will become what we want them,a truly
dominated nation".

In this context,  we have to ponder where we lost our way.Our education system
is still on the western model and there is craze to get degrees,doctorates from
Universities from UK,USA,and other European countries.Ofcourse, our education
system has to be reoriented suiting our requirements .What has gone wrong in
182 years ,what happened to our wealth,our rich cultural heritage & spirituality?
Are we still a dominated nation economically ?.A US Dollar  is Rs 64.92,
One UK Pound is Rs.86.53, One Euro is Rs.77.05,One Australian Dollar is Rs.51.24
and One Singapore Dollar is Rs.48.09.
